Tropical Storm Barry has formed in the northern Gulf of Mexico, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). Barry is the second named storm of the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season and is not expected to be a threat to the Texas coast.
Barry has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and moving west at 5 mph. NHC predicts Barry will affect the Louisiana Coast this weekend as a hurricane. Hurricane watches have been issued and a state of emergency has been declared in Louisiana.
