Tropical Storm Nicholas - Sept. 13, 11:00 am
Tropical Storm Nicholas is expected to produce storm total rainfall of 8 to 16 inches, with isolated higher amounts, across portions of the middle and upper Texas coast. Very stormy period on tap for next 36 hours with flash flooding, high winds, storm surge, and isolated tornadoes all possible. Flash flooding remains the greatest concern.
- Hurricane Watch extended north to San Luis Pass. Possible could reach category one hurricane before landfall. If not will be a high-end tropical storm.
- Nicholas will bring periods of heavy rain to the region with flash flood potential especially tonight and Tuesday morning.
- Expect improving conditions Tuesday afternoon and night, although the track and speed of Nicholas are still uncertain.
- River flooding: Primary concern still San Jacinto, Harris County bayous, San Bernard, Tres Palacios, and Lavaca Navidad river basins. Tributaries of the mainstem rivers will also need to be monitored.
