Outdoor Warning System Test March 24

dusk on campus

On Friday, March 24, Rice University will test the Rice Alert mass notification system and the outdoor warning system around 12:15 p.m. and should last about 2 minutes in duration.

This will only be a test, and no action will be required.

Please log in to iO and verify your contact information to make sure that you are receiving RICE ALERT communications properly.

The Outdoor Warning System's (OWS) outdoor speakers allow the Crisis Management Department to broadcast audible, outdoor messages during emergencies.

During next week's test, expect to hear loud beeping and a spoken message.

The OWS is not intended to be heard inside buildings, but people in some buildings may hear the test.

If you have any questions or you are planning an important event that may be disrupted by this test, please email Rice Crisis Management at CMT@rice.edu.
