Bottom Line

Hurricane Delta, now a category 2 hurricane, is forecast to strengthen to a category 3 over the next 36 hours as it tracks NW then N across the Gulf of Mexico. Delta is expected to make landfall on the Louisiana coast Friday afternoon or evening.

Although a Texas landfall of the center is not expected, tropical-storm-force winds, high surf with beach erosion, and coastal flooding are likely. Some hurricane-force winds are possible in Texas east of High Island. For details see the attached.
