We'll start off with some great news: Little or no rain is predicted in Houston until Monday.
We now have 6,356 responses to the needs assessment. We are beginning to reach out directly to those who have damage to their homes. We are also concerned about people who have suffered damage and cannot complete the survey. We will be reaching out to those who have not completed the survey to check on their status. If you have not completed the needs assessment, or if you need to update your status, please click here: https://emergency.rice.edu/needs-assessment.
Anyone who parked their car in Campus Entrance 3 Garage last week must move it by 5 p.m. today. Construction workers will be entering the garage to begin recovery and continued construction on the building -- so we can no longer have cars parked there.
More than 100 members of the Rice community have offered temporary housing in response to the online tool we announced yesterday, and we are actively connecting them with those who have indicated a need. If you're looking for a place to stay temporarily, fill out the form at https://emergency.rice.edu/temporary-housing-match.
The city of Houston has imposed a curfew from midnight to 5 a.m. to help prevent looting in the aftermath of the storm. Please abide by the curfew.
Some status updates:
- The Rec Center is open today until 6 p.m. Starting Thursday, the Rec Center will be expanding its hours to 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Sunday. The pools will be open noon to 5 Thursday and Friday. The Rec Center will be closed Labor Day. A Rice ID is required for entry because this week the center is available only to students, faculty and staff.
- Fondren Library will be open today until 8 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. The library will be closed Labor Day. A Rice ID is required for entry.
As always, please send questions or concerns to cmtcomment@rice.edu.
