The rains from Harvey continue.
We have heard many reports about damage to homes and vehicles among our Rice community members. We are already working on plans for how best to help our faculty, staff and students when we move into the post-Harvey recovery period. With the afternoon update, we will be providing a tool for gathering information on how everyone is faring in this incredible storm.
A few status reminders:
- Rice will remain closed through 11:59 p.m. Tuesday.
- The Rec Center will be open today from noon to 6 p.m. for Rice students, staff and faculty only. A Rice ID is required for entry.
- Fondren Library will be open today from noon to 6 p.m. for Rice students, staff and faculty only. A Rice ID is required for entry.
- Student Health Services will be open today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for sick or injured patients only (no routine services like allergy shots or vaccinations). No appointment is needed.
- All four serveries (North, South, West and Seibel) will be open Monday and Tuesday for brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and for dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. This is for undergraduates and essential personnel only.
- A current list of buildings on campus that have experienced weather-related issues can be viewed here: https://emergency.rice.edu/news/key-issues-happening-around-campus. If you do not see the building about which you are concerned, no problems have been found at that location.
The Crisis Management Team continues to meet regularly. As always, your safety is our first priority. You can expect another update from us in the early afternoon. Hang in there!
As usual, if you have comments or questions, send an email to cmtcomment@rice.edu.
