The Rice Crisis Management Team and the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies invite all faculty, staff and students to a Harvey recovery seminar Friday afternoon, Sept. 8, from 2 to 3:30 to learn general information on such topics as property and flood insurance, working with FEMA, and a number of issues faced by home owners whose property was flooded, including working with contractors, the benefits of public adjusters, rebuilding in the flood plain, home elevation recommendations and FEMA mitigation grants. We have assembled a team of Rice faculty and staff to share their personal and professional expertise and experience, including Rob Raphael, associate professor of bioengineering; Cesare Wright, outreach and leadership specialist for the Rice Center for Engineering Leadership; and Renee Block, director of risk management. Jim McCann from Wortham Insurance will also speak. The session will take place in Duncan Hall's McMurtry Auditorium. For those who are unable to attend, we will record the presentations and make them available online via the "Employee Resources" button on emergency.rice.edu.
