Dear Rice Community,

As we approach the weekend, Rice Emergency Management is closely monitoring the weather forecast in partnership with local authorities.

Current models indicate the potential for wintry precipitation in conjunction with freezing temperatures beginning late Saturday and continuing through the weekend, possibly extending into early next week.

This is a good time for employees and students who live off campus to begin preparing for winter weather at home – stocking up on food, water, prescriptions, backup batteries, and other essentials The goal, as always, is to take steps to protect people, pets, plants and pipes.

We will keep you informed as we track the weather and assess potential impacts on university operations. Any decisions regarding schedule changes will be made by the Crisis Management Advisory Committee (CMAC) and communicated promptly through RICE ALERT and emergency.rice.edu. If you have not already signed up for emergency notifications, please update your information to receive RICE ALERT messages.

A medida que nos acercamos a la próxima semana, queremos informarle que el departamento Rice Gestiona de Emergencias está monitoreando de cerca el pronóstico del tiempo en colaboración con las autoridades meteorológicas locales.
