The most recent weather reports indicate that Houston has received as much as 24 inches of rain so far, and potentially more in isolated areas of our community. Substantial additional rain is forecast for this evening -- anywhere from 5 to 10 inches, depending on the different weather models.
Tropical Storm Harvey produced significant rainfall overnight, causing the roads on and around campus to flood periodically, and more rain is expected throughout the day. Please do not try to come to campus. Many of the entrances have high water.
Kevin and I took a couple of hours this afternoon to walk around the campus. We went through almost every building and found things to be dry, safe and secure. We were so pleased to see that everyone is respecting the laboratory and building closure policy.
